Cat Illnesses - External Parasites
There are several parasitic cat illnesses: fleas, ticks, ear mites, sarcoptic mange mites and demodectic mange mites. The most common cause is transmission from other pets, farm animals or wild animals. Most cats will be infested with external parasites at some point during their life.
The symptoms of these cat problems are generally the same. The cat will lick, scratch and bite itself more than usual. In the case of ear mites the cat will shake its head.
It is best to consult a vet to find out how to deal with these cat problems, but if buying over the counter treatments make sure they are specifically for cats. If not, they could kill the cat. Also, seek treatment early to prevent more serious cat illnesses developing.
