Cat Illnesses - Feline Conjunctivitis
Conjuntivitis is one of the most common cat problems. It can be caused by foreign bodies getting into the cat's eye, an allergy, physical defects, a respiratory infection or eye infections.
A cat with this illness will have a red and inflammed eye lining, and a discharge from the eye. The cat may also rub its eye on hard surfaces. Most cats with this condition will have a poor tolerance for light and will squint.
Eye ointment or drops will be used to treat the cat regardless of the cause. However if it is a foreign body it will need to be removed. If it is a physical defect, it may need to be surgically repaired by a vet.
